Climb Kazbek (5054m)
Alpine Climb in the Caucasus

Overview

Mount Kazbek is one of the most iconic peaks in the Caucasus range (5054m), located in northern Georgia near the Russian border. This alpine climb offers a unique blend of adventure, culture, and natural beauty. The 5-day expedition begins in the historic village of Stepantsminda and includes a glacier crossing, a stay at the Meteo Station, and a dramatic summit push. Surrounded by rugged peaks and ancient monasteries, climbing Kazbek is a rewarding challenge for those seeking a true alpine experience.

When is the best time to climb?

The best time to climb Mount Kazbek is from mid-June to mid-September, when the weather is most stable and the route is free of deep snow. July and August offer the warmest temperatures and the best summit conditions, making them the most popular months for ascents. In June and September, conditions are generally good but can be more unpredictable, with possible snow at higher elevations. Winter ascents are possible but require full alpine equipment, experience, and a higher level of fitness due to snow and ice.
