Island Peak (6189m)
First Step into Himalayan Climbing
Overview
Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse, is one of Nepal’s most popular climbing peaks — ideal for trekkers ready to take their first steps into the world of high-altitude mountaineering. Located in the Everest region near Chhukung, this climb offers a mix of trekking, glacier travel, and a final ascent along a snow-covered ridge. With proper acclimatization, expert guides, and support, Island Peak is a rewarding challenge that culminates in jaw-dropping views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and the surrounding peaks of the Khumbu.
When is the best time to climb?
The best seasons for Island Peak are spring (March–May) and autumn (October–November). During these months, weather conditions are generally stable, visibility is excellent, and the climbing route is in its best condition. Snow and ice conditions on the summit ridge vary, but spring and fall offer the most reliable window for a safe and successful climb.
